ndSync lets you sync NetDocuments workspaces and folders to your local machine for offline access. This guide walks through downloading, installing, and configuring ndSync on Windows.

Before you begin: Your firm’s NetDocuments administrator must enable ndSync before you can use it. If you get an error during setup, check with your admin to confirm ndSync policies are configured.

Understanding What You Can Sync
By default, NetDocuments limits which items appear in the sync selection screen:
Client/Matter Cabinets: Only your recent or favorite workspaces appear. To sync a specific workspace, open it in NetDocuments first or mark it as a favorite.
Folder Cabinets: You can select any folder to sync.
Tip: Before running ndSync setup, open or favorite the workspaces you want to sync. This ensures they appear in the selection list.
After Installation
Once configured, ndSync creates a folder on your computer (typically in your user folder) containing your synced content. The folder structure mirrors your NetDocuments organization.
Changes sync automatically in both directions—edit locally and it syncs to NetDocuments; edit in NetDocuments and it syncs to your local folder.
Troubleshooting
ndSync won’t connect: Confirm your firm has enabled ndSync policies.
Workspace doesn’t appear in sync list: Open the workspace in NetDocuments or add it to your favorites, then refresh the sync selection.
Sync icon shows errors: Right-click the system tray icon and check the sync status for specific file conflicts.
