If you’re in the middle of a migration to NetDocuments, one of the first things we’ll need from you is a complete list of your matters from Clio. This export gives us the data we need to properly set up your cabinet structure, workspaces, and matter numbering in NetDocuments — so it’s an important early step.
The good news: Clio makes this straightforward. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: In Clio, Click Matters
Log into Clio and click Matters in the left navigation menu. This will pull up your full matter list.
Step 2: Click Export
In the upper right area of the Matters screen, click the Export button. Clio will prompt you to choose your export format and options.
Step 3: Choose CSV and Available columns, and then Export
When the export dialog appears, select CSV as the file format. Then choose Available Columns — this ensures you’re exporting the full set of matter fields, not just a subset. The more data we have, the better we can map everything over to NetDocuments accurately.
Click Export to generate the file.
Step 4: Save the file to your desktop
When your browser prompts you to save the file, save it to your desktop (or somewhere easy to find). You’ll be uploading it in the next step.
Step 5: Go to this website:
Drag your exported CSV file into the upload area, then click Upload. That’s it — we’ll take it from there.
